KU Tennis Defeated By Yale, 4-3

University Park, Pa. – The University of Kansas tennis team dropped a close match to the Yale Bulldogs, 4-3, Saturday in University Park, Pa. The loss drops the Jayhawks to 1-6 on the season.

KU earned one victory in doubles competition, but Yale earned the doubles point with two wins. Junior Christine Skoda and sophomore Ashley Filberth won their match 8-6 over Yale’s Stephanie White and Olivia Nix.

In singles action, the `Hawks earned three victories. Freshman Elizaveta Avdeeva won her No. 2 singles match, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, against Rashmee Patil. Sophomore Brittany Brown notched a straight-set 7-6 (5), 6-3, victory in No. 3 singles action over Alford, while freshman Anna Jackson earned a 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (5), third set tiebreaker in No. 6 singles over Olivia Nix.

“We played tough, but we are still young and we need more experience,” Kansas head coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “We have to keep our level of competition up and build on every match.”

The `Hawks will next be in action Sunday, Feb. 27, against Utah in Topeka, Kan. The match is scheduled to take place at the Wood Valley Racquet Club at 2 p.m.
