LAWRENCE, Kan. –

2009 Summer Camp Brochure

The Jayhawk women’s soccer team will host four different camps throughout the summer months on campus at the University of Kansas. The Jayhawks encourage all youth players interested in improving their skills on the field to sign up and receive instruction from head coach Mark Francis and the KU coaching staff as well as current and former student-athletes.

The first camp of the summer will be the “Weekicks Camp” for both boys and girls who recently completed kindergarten up to fifth grade. The Weekicks Camp will run from June 8-12 in morning from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

For more advanced players, the Jayhawks offer the standard Day Camp for players in grades five through eight during the same time period. This camp focuses more on learning the techniques of soccer as well as introducing the tactical components of the game. Day Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week of June 8.

Later in the summer, KU will host a Girls’ Residential Camp. This camp for girls in grades four through 12 allows participants the opportunity to train and play in a college-type environment. The residential camp runs from July 19-22 as well as July 23-26 with players having the option of staying overnight or participating as commuters.

The final camp of the summer is the Team Camp which is also for girls in grades four through 12 who want to register as a team of 10 or more. This camp will prepare teams for the upcoming fall season, training players in tactical and technical sessions and helping teams function better as a unit. Team Camps run at the same time as the Residential Camps, July 19-22 and July 23-26.
