No. 37 Tulsa Overtakes Kansas Tennis, 5-2

LAWRENCE, Kan. –
For the second week in a row, Kansas tennis played hard against a nationally-ranked opponent but was once again handed the loss, going down 5-2 to No. 37 Tulsa, Saturday afternoon at the Jayhawk Tennis Facility.
The loss dropped KU to 1-3 on the season, while the Golden Hurricane moved to 7-2 for the 2011 spring campaign.
Tulsa swept doubles play to go up 1-0, but after struggling in doubles, the Jayhawks put up a strong fight in singles.
Morozova easily downed Alexandra Kichoutkin 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match. Wilbert engaged in a fierce back-and-forth battle with Bonny Davidson in the No. 5 singles match. The two kept the score close in each set and both came back to tie several times. Ultimately, Wilbert grinded out a 6-4 win in the third set to put a point on the board for KU.
Dylan Windom nearly broke through with a first-set win but fell to Michelle Farley 7-5 to open the No. 4 match, but eventually dropped the second set, giving Farley the win.
Ahead by one set and up 5-0 in the second set, Paulina Los looked as though she would put away Ewa Szatkowska. The freshman topped Tulsa’s No. 3 singles player 6-2 in the first set and was up 5-0 in the second until Szatkowska rallied back to overcome Los 7-5. Los ran out of gas in the third and fell 6-1.
Tennis action continues Sunday morning, with an early morning contest against Arkansas-Little Rock. Match time is slated for 9 a.m., at the Jayhawk Tennis Facility.
