Junior Jayhawks Took Over Allen Fieldhouse

Lawrence, Kan. — Helping make the day a success at the University of Kansas women’s basketball on Sunday against Nebraska was the Junior Jayhawks Club. Over 80 kids who are members of the club participated in the first “Junior Jayhawks Take Over Allen Fieldhouse” promotion. The Jayhawks won the game 67-53 over the Cornhuskers.

“It was a great experience and I really learned a lot,” Paige Rockers, age 12 of Greeley, Kan., said. “The game was a lot of fun, but my favorite part was getting to see the locker room area. It was really cool.”

The day gave kids the opportunity to sign up to take part in running various areas of the the athletic event including the following areas: managers and ball girls during pre-game warm ups, security guards, scoreboard, media relations, music, band, cheerleaders, ushers, ticket operations, program sales, P.A. announcer, team manager, half-time show and promotions staff.
