Taylor, a 6-foot-4 righty from Overland Park, Kan., tossed a career-best 8 1/3 shutout innings against Belmont on Saturday, helping the Jayhawks to a 2-0 win. Taylor scattered three hits, walked two and recorded five strikeouts in the game. He was incredibly efficient in the game, needing just 89 pitches to get through his 8 1/3 innings of work.

Taylor earned his 10th career victory in Saturday’s game, moving him into a tie for fifth-place for wins among active pitchers in the Big 12. The junior becomes the first Kansas hurler to win Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors since T.J. Walz earned the award on May 3, 2010.

Taylor and the Jayhawks will take on Mississippi State and Mississippi Valley State this weekend in Starkville, Miss. KU will open the weekend with the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State Friday at 2:30 p.m.
