Goodrich Finalist for Nancy Lieberman Award

Feb. 21, 2013

LAWRENCE, Kan. – On the heels of scoring a career-high 31 points in Wednesday’s game at Texas and becoming the all-time career assist leader at Kansas earlier in the week, senior Angel Goodrich was named one of seven finalists for the 14th Annual Nancy Lieberman Award Thursday, honoring the nation’s top-collegiate point guard in women’s NCAA Division I basketball.

The criteria for the award are the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills that personified Hall of Famer, Nancy Lieberman during her career. Sportswriters from across the country have determined this list and they will select three finalists and ultimately the winner in early April. The announcement of the winner and the three finalists will be made during the 2013 Final Four.

Goodrich, Kansas all-time career assist leader with 693 assists, leads the Big 12 Conference in steals per contest (3.0) and is third in assists per game (6.6). Her 167 total assists on the season currently ranks No. 6 all-time on the single-season best list. Goodrich already owns the top mark (250 in 2011-12) and the No. 4 spot (170 in 2010-11).

The 5-foot-4 guard also adds 13.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game and has scored in double-figures 17 times this season.

Goodrich, who was a finalist for the award last season, was joined on the list by Alex Bentley (Penn State), Skylar Diggins (Notre Dame), Chelsea Gray (Duke), Lindsey Moore (Nebraska), Odyssey Sims (Baylor) and Haley Steed (BYU).
