Xavier Henry Earns Third Rookie of the Week Honor

For the third time this season, Kansas guard Xavier Henry was honored as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week it was announced by the league office Monday.
The Jayhawks remained undefeated in the Big 12 Conference after defeating Texas A&M on Feb. 14 and Colorado on Feb. 19. Henry played a pivotal role in both victories, as the freshman from Oklahoma City, Okla., averaged 18.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in the two games, while shooting an impressive 12-of-25 (.480) from the field. Henry was also 4-of-8 (.500) from beyond the arc and 8-of-11 (.727) from the charity stripe.
Henry turned in his best performance thus far in conference play with a 24-point effort versus Colorado, which included four three-pointers. He has now led the Jayhawks in scoring nine times this season.
Henry previously won the league’s Rookie of the Week honor on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14. His 13.6 season scoring average is second on the team and he has started all 27 games for the No. 1-ranked Jayhawks, who host Oklahoma Monday night.
The Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week honors were shared by Denis Clemente of Kansas State, who averaged 24.0 points on 17-of-32 shooting, and James Anderson of Oklahoma State, who scored 20 points in a win at Iowa State and followed with a 31-point effort in an 82-75 home victory against No. 22 Baylor.
