Shaeffer Hall Earns Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Honors

Feb. 23, 2009

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –

Kansas junior pitcher Shaeffer Hall has been named the Big 12 Conference’s Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 23. Hall becomes the first Jayhawk to earn conference pitcher of the week honors since Don Czyz on Feb. 14, 2006.

Hall, a junior from Lee’s Summit, Mo., tossed the fifth complete game no hitter in Kansas baseball history on Feb. 20, blanking Air Force, 5-0. The 6-foot lefty went nine innings and allowed no runs on no hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. After walking the first batter of the game, Hall retired the next 17 Falcons he faced. His performance was also the first complete game shutout by a Jayhawk since Kodiak Quick blanked Hawaii-Hilo in 2005.

Hall’s performance also earned his national honors by recruitingcloser.com.

He is joined in the conference’s weekly awards by Texas A&M third baseman Caleb Shofner.

Hall and the Jayhawks (1-2) will face 21st-ranked Arkansas in a two-game series beginning Tuesday at 3 p.m., in Fayetteville, Ark. Both games from the set can be heard via audio webcast on kuathletics.com.
