COLUMBIA, Mo. – Preliminaries during day two of the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships have come and gone and KU swimmers saw career fast marks in all three events. A total of 13 Jayhawks achieved Kansas career bests in the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free this morning at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

Junior Rebecca Swank had a standout performance in the 500 free, with a seventh place finish and a lifetime best 4:49.68 time, surpassing her old mark of 4:49.99, which she set at the 2011 Big 12 Championships. Swank will be in the ‘A’ final later tonight in the event and joining her will be 10 other KU swimmers who will be competing in ‘B’ and ‘C’ finals.

Swank was the highest placing Jayhawk, while Stephanie Payne and Svetlana Golovchun were not too far behind, both finishing 11th in the 200 IM and 50 free respectively.
