KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii –

For the second straight day, Hawaii-Hilo scored the winning run in extra innings on an error in a 4-3, nine-inning triumph over the University of Kansas at Simmons Field in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

John Allman and Buck Afenir each had two hits for Kansas, while the Jayhawk pitching staff allowed just one earned run. Senior Andres Esquibel scattered six hits over five innings, yielding two unearned runs. He finished with four strikeouts.

The teams will wrap up the series with the second game of the doubleheader, which began at 5:50 p.m. CST.
