Kansas Edges No. 72 Tulsa, 4-3

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>TULSA, Okla. – The University of Kansas tennis team defeated 72nd ranked Tulsa, 4-3, Sunday afternoon in Tulsa, Okla. The win improves KU, which entered the rankings for the first time this season earlier in the week at No. 75, to 5-2.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Sunday marked the second victory for the Jayhawks against a ranked opponent this season, with the first coming on Feb. 18 against then-No. 74 Louisville.

Kansas dominated singles play, getting victories from Ksenia Bukina, Christine Skoda, Edina Horvath and Brittany Brown. Skoda and Horvath had also each notched victories on Saturday in KU’s hard-fought loss to Arkansas.

Tulsa won the dual’s doubles point, however, the Jayhawk’s tandem of Avdeeva and Bukina recorded a win in the No. 1 slot, topping the Hurricane’s Santie Delpot and Thalia Diaz-Barriga.

KU will return home for its Big 12 Conference opener on March 5 to take on Texas Tech. The contest is set to start at 10 a.m.
