Oral Roberts Downs Kansas

Oral Roberts scored seven runs in the first two innings and held on for a 9-1 victory over the University of Kansas in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The Golden Eagles improve to 4-5 overall, while Kansas drops its fourth straight to fall to 7-5 on the season.

Junior John Allman led KU’s offensive attack, going 2-for-4, while freshman Robby Price drove in the Jayhawks’ only run of the after with a single to score senior Kyle Murphy in the top of the eighth inning.

Carter McQuigg had the big hit for the Golden Eagles in the first inning, blasting a three-run homer down the left field line to give ORU a 4-0 lead. ORU scored three more runs in the second on the strength of Brian Van Kirk’s two-run homer to left.

The Jayhawks will look to rebound this weekend when the team hosts Western Illinois in a three-game series at Hoglund Ballpark. The series begins Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
