LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Former men’s basketball player Christian Moody will help host a pregame event for students who come early to this Saturday’s men’s basketball game against the <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>University of Texas. The event is sponsored by Rock Chalk Responsible Choices, a student group that works with multiple campus offices and the NCAA to promote responsible decision-making among students.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The pregame event will include live entertainment, donuts and door-prizes for the first 750 students, and multiple giveaways to attendees. A three-man band, comprised of KU football student-athletes, will entertain attendees beginning at 9 a.m; the event is open to all students with a ticket to the game.

“This is a great event for us to get in contact with more students on campus, and hopefully draw some of those students to events in the future,” said Nick Sterner, treasurer of the student group.

Rock Chalk Responsible Choices works with several University offices to host speakers, panels and other events designed to promote an open dialogue among students about responsible decision-making associated with alcohol use. “Our goal is just to help students make the right decisions like calling SafeRide or designating a driver before going out,” said Darrell Stuckey, a KU football student-athlete and vice president of the group. “Students need to look out for each other, and we all need to talk about making the right decisions.”
