KU Soccer Heads To Nebraska for Spring Match Action

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas soccer will open its spring 2013 exhibition season when the Jayhawks travel to Nebraska Friday for a 7 p.m. match at the Nebraska Soccer Field in Lincoln.

The match will be the first of 11 slated for Kansas soccer this spring. Following the contest with the Cornhuskers, the Jayhawks will play four matches as part of their European tour between March 18-22. KU will then return to Lawrence to host four matches at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex throughout the month of April. The team will also compete in the Big 12/Big Ten Spring Challenge in Ames, Iowa. The games on April 20 will feature Big 12 foe Iowa State as well as Big Ten opponents Iowa and Minnesota.

KU concluded the 2012 campaign with a 10-8-2 record, ending the season with a loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship. The Jayhawks will look to use the spring schedule to improve the team which will return four of their top five scoring leaders, including forward Caroline Kastor, who led the squad with 11 goals and two assists (24 points) in her junior season. Also headlining will be forwards Ashley Williams and Courtney Dickerson, who wrapped up their freshmen campaigns combining for 12 goals and four assists in 2012.
