KU Closer Don Czyz Reaches Career Milestone

Kansas senior closer Don Czyz reached a pitching milestone never achieved in KU baseball history on Sunday, Feb. 26. The Overland Park, Kan., native made his 100th career appearance on the mound during the Jayhawks 4-3 victory over Vanderbilt.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Czyz capped an impressive weekend during his 100th emergence as he recorded his third save of the weekend to help the Jayhawks win all three games at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn. The right-hander upped his career saves total to 18.

Heading into KU’s home opener on Friday, March 3, Czyz has made 21 more appearances than any pitcher in KU history. This season, Czyz has appeared in nine games, recording a Big 12 best six saves while striking out 16 batters in 16 innings.
