Brandon Rush and Julian Wright Make All-District Teams

LAWRENCE, Kan –

Kansas sophomore forward Brandon Rush and fellow sophomore forward Julian Wright were named to the District 12 First Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Wednesday, February 28. District 12 includes schools from the states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. The teams are selected by member coaches of the NABC. With their selection, Rush and Wright are now eligible for selection to the NABC’s Division 1 All-American Teams. Other members of the District 12 first team are Nate Funk of Creighton, Mario Boggan of Oklahoma State and Adam Haluska of Iowa.

Last year, Rush was named to the District 12 Second team. This year, Rush leads Kansas in scoring with a 13.7 points per game average while playing a team-high 32 minutes a game. Contributing to his scoring average is his team-high 56 three-point shots made. Rush also ranks second on the team with 5.7 rebounds per game.

Julian Wright leads the Jayhawks in rebounding with an eight rebounds per game, while averaging 27. 4 minutes per game. Wright is second on the team in blocks with 44 and tied for second with 11.8 points per game.

The Jayhawks will try to wrap-up their 50th Conference title this Saturday at home against the Texas Longhorns at 11 a.m.
