AMES, Iowa – The University of Kansas women’s basketball team rounded out the 2005 regular season with a 61-52 loss at Iowa State, Tuesday night in Ames. With the loss, KU falls to 12-15 overall and 5-11 in Big 12 play.

The Cyclones connected on 26-of-31 from the free-line, while KU shot just three free-throws in th game.

Junior Erica Hallman led the Jayhawks with 15 points and a game-high five assists. Fellow junior Kaylee Brown added 13 points, while junior Crystal Kemp chipped in with nine points.

“I thought our effort was fantastic tonight,” Kansas head coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “We talked about needing toughness and we had that tonight.”

“We can live with this loss because we played with a lot of pride tonight,” Henrickson added. “We got good looks down the stretch but they just did not fall.”

In their final home game, ISU seniors Mary Fox and Katie Robinette each scored 18 points. Robinette recorded a double-double as she grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. Senior Anne O’Neil added 16 points in the win.

Next up, the Jayhawks will travel to Kansas City for the 2005 Big 12 Tournament next week. The tournament will be held March 10-13 at Municipal Auditorium.
