LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Christian Moody, Jeff Hawkins and Stephen Vinson bid farewell to Allen Fieldhouse in impressive fashion on Wednesday night, helping lead the University of Kansas to a 75-54 win over Colorado on Senior Night.

Also recognized during the game were former player and current senior student-assistant Moulaye Niang, as well as broadcasting legend Max Falkenstein, who was honored for his 60th and final year of calling Jayhawk athletics.

KU opened the game with a 19-4 run and would never relinquish the lead, holding the Buffaloes to 15 first half points — the fewest given up by a Kansas team since Jan. 11, 1999, when it surrendered only 15 to the Missouri Tigers.

Kansas held a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half before Colorado creeped to within eight with 4:46 remaining in the game. However, freshman Mario Chalmers buried a three-pointer on the following possession to spark a 17-4 game-ending run to seal the victory.

Chalmers paced KU with 14 points to go along with five steals. Freshman Brandon Rush scored 13 points and pulled down six rebounds, and sophomore Russell Robinson chipped in with 10 points and seven assists. Kansas’ bench outscored Colorado’s 45-17, and a total of ten Jayhawks scored in the game, including all three seniors.

KU will conclude its regular season on Saturday, March 4, when it travels to Manhattan to take on Sunflower State-rival Kansas State. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPN-Regional.
