Former Jayhawk Pritchard Named Trailblazers Interim Head Coach

PORTLAND, Ore. –

Former University of Kansas basketball player Kevin Pritchard was named interim head coach of the Portland Trailblazers, the team and National Basketball Association announced Wednesday afternoon.

Pritchard previously served as the director of player personnel for the Trailblazers, before replacing former head coach Maurice Cheeks.

Pritchard, a 6-3 guard from Tulsa, Okla., lettered at KU from 1987-90 and was a member of the 1988 National Championship team. He scored 1,692 points — good for ninth on the Kansas career all-time list — to go with 499 assists and 190 steals. In addition, he was an All-Big Eight First Team and Academic All-Big 12 selection.
