Three Jayhawks Receive NCAA Invitations

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Three Kansas swimmers received invitations Thursday evening to compete in the 2007 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships March 8-10 in Minneapolis, Minn., at the Minnesota Aquatic Center. Senior captain Jenny Short, sophomore Danielle Herrmann and freshman Ashley Robinson will represent the University of Kansas at the National Championships.

Short, who was a participant in the 2005 NCAA Championships, qualified this year in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events. Both Herrmann and Robinson will participate in their first post-season competition. Herrmann made qualification times in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events as well as the 200-yard individual medley relay. Robinson, the Lawrence, Kan., native, will compete in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1650 freestyle events.

The Kansas divers, currently in competition at the Zone Diving competition in Austin, Texas, will know its qualifiers following competition Sunday, March 4. Those qualifiers will travel alongside the swimmers to the NCAA Championships.
