Kansas Soccer Announces Spring Schedule

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Kansas soccer coach Mark Francis announced Monday that the team has finalized its schedule for the spring season. The Jayhawks will play seven matches during the exhibition season, including a showdown with conference rival Nebraska on March 30.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

“The spring season is an ideal time for us to focus on individual improvements of the players,” Francis said. “It is really a time of development while also a time to continue a winning mentality.”

The Jayhawks open the spring ledger Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest against MissouriState at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. Last season, KU used overtime to top the Bears, 1-0, in Lawrence.

KU’s next contests will be on March 30, when the team travels to Lincoln, Neb., to face the Huskers at 11 a.m., and the University of Minnesota at 1 p.m.

On April 5, the Jayhawks will host a round-robin tournament with Drake and Iowa. KU will face the Bulldogs at 10:30 a.m. and the Hawkeyes at 2:30 p.m. Drake and Iowa will meet in the middle match at 12:30 p.m. Last season, the Jayhawks traveled to Des Moines and defeated the Bulldogs, 2-1.

KU’s final two matches of the spring season will be Sunday, April 13 against Creighton at 3 p.m. and Saturday, April 19 against Washburn at 10 a.m.

Admission to all spring matches at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex is free of charge.
