Jayhawks Shut Out Alumni, 6-0

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The current Kansas soccer team got its spring season off to a hot start shutting out the KU alumni team 6-0 Saturday afternoon at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

Sophomore Caroline Kastor was a popular target as she collected three goals on the day. Junior Shelby Williamson also recorded a score as did junior Nicole Chrisopulos. Junior Whitney Berry rounded out the KU offense, notching a goal on a penalty kick.

Current KU assistant coach Jessica Smith was one of 21 former Jayhawks competing for the alumni team. Recent graduates Kelsey Clifton, Kortney Clifton and Jordyn Perdue of Kansas’ 2011 NCAA Tournament team also took part in the contest.

Saturday’s contest was the first of six games for the Jayhawks this spring. Kansas will next host Nebraska (March 10) and South Dakota State (March 31) before traveling to Iowa for a pair of games on April 15. KU wraps up spring competition welcoming Missouri State on April 22.
