March 4, 2005

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Kansas junior Charisse Bacchus was the lone Jayhawk competitor Friday night and she took advantage of the spotlight by breaking the university record in the long jump. Bacchus broke the record she set last week at the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a best effort of 20-09.00 at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend Indiana.

The Jayhawks will compete at two meets on Saturday. Three more Jayhawks will take to the track in South Bend, while another group will be in Ames, Iowa for the Iowa State Invitational.

This will be the last day of competition to improve on times and qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which will be held next weekend in Fayatteville, Ark.
