Fresh off a 7-0 sweep of UMKC, the Kansas women’s tennis team will host No. 61 BYU on Friday and No. 32 Tulsa on Saturday at First Serve Tennis Center. Both matches are set to begin at 1 p.m.

Last Sunday against UMKC, the Jayhawks used two new doubles pairings as Edina Horvath and Ekaterina Morozova won their match, 8-0, and Yuliana Svistun and Kunigunda Dorn picked up an 8-4 win. Alessandra Dzuba and Erin Wilbert were also victorious, 8-2.

In singles play, both Morozova and Svistun walked away with 6-0, 6-0 wins while Dorn, Wilbert and Maria Martinez each earned 6-1, 6-0, victories over their opponents. Horvath won her first match at the No. 1 position this season, 6-1, 7-5.

BYU enters the weekend with a record of 4-5 after winning a close match with Nevada on Feb. 28. The Cougars boast the No. 118-ranked player in the nation in Kristina Doerr and will play a dual against Kansas State on March 5 before making the trip to Lawrence.

Tulsa, with its 13-2 record, hosts Oklahoma on March 4 following a victory over No. 48 Florida International the previous weekend. The doubles tandem of Alexandra Kichoutkin and Marta Marcinkowska, ranked 57th in the nation, currently own a 7-4 record and will most likely play at the No. 1 doubles position against KU.

Kansas will open Big 12 Conference play following this weekend’s matches. The Jayhawks are slated to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, Neb. on March 13 at 3 p.m.
