Woodland Leads After Day One at Louisiana Classics

Senior Gary Woodland is off to another strong start at the Louisiana Classics, shooting a nine-under score of 135 through day one, good for first place. The Jayhawks as a team are currently standing in 11th place with a two-round score 585.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Woodland was able to complete the best round of the year for the Jayhawks in round two, carding a 65. The Topeka, Kan. Native. is looking for his third victory of the season. Woodland is two shots clear on the leaderboard of Colt Knost of SMU and Aaron O’Callaghan of Southeastern Louisiana.
“Gary Woodland really played well for us today,” said head coach Ross Randall. “The rest of the team is still really struggling to get healthy and hopefully we can play better tomorrow. It has been a real long day for us playing 36 holes and dealing with so much illness in the process.”
Junior Joey Mundy is sitting in a tie for 47th after firing a two-round score of 148. Senior Tyler Docking shot a pair of 76’s to finish the day in a tie for 58th. Freshman Bobby Knowles shot a 153 through two rounds and is tied for 65th. Freshman Patrick Roth is tied for 69th after carding a 155. Freshman David Cosel is competing as an individual in the tournament and is also tied for 69th with a 155.
