Top-Seed Kansas to Face Either Nebraska or Oklahoma State Thursday at Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship

IRVING, Texas – Top-seed Kansas will play its quarterfinal game of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship on Thursday, March 10, at 11:30 a.m. at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. KU will face the winner of the Wednesday, March 9, contest against No. 8 seed Nebraska and No. 9 seed Oklahoma State. KU’s quarterfinal game will be televised on ESPN2.

Kansas (29-2, 14-2 Big 12) earned the No. 1 seed and the 2011 Big 12 regular-season championship outright with a 70-66 win against Border Showdown foe Missouri Saturday. It marked the seventh-straight conference regular-season title for Kansas and the 11th Big 12 title in the 15-year history of the conference. Kansas won its NCAA-leading 54th conference regular-season title as well in 2011.

Kansas is the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Championship for the eighth time (1997-98-2002-03-07-09-10-11). The Jayhawks are defending tourney champs and have won seven Big 12 Championship titles (1997-98-99-2006-07-08-10), including four under head coach Bill Self.
