LAWRENCE, Kan. – On the heels of one of the most successful pledge drives in recent Kansas Athletics history, the Williams Education Fund (WEF) is officially kicking off its 2013 Fund Drive to provide academic and athletic support to more than 500 Jayhawk student-athletes.

Pledge information is currently being mailed and additional information is available through the WEF office at (855) GIVE-WEF, or visit the WEF website at www.WilliamsFund.com.

This year’s WEF Fund Drive includes all sports for the 2013-14 academic year. This new simplified membership calendar will ensure maximum membership benefits with flexible pledge payment options. The 2013 WEF Fund Drive will run until March 3, 2014.

Also new this year is a membership referral program in which current members will receive a priority point credit for recruiting new WEF members. Priority points are awarded to existing WEF members for each referring new member’s consecutive years of donating and for qualifying first-year donation levels. Please contact the WEF office with questions to the referral program.

There are also additional programs for recent KU graduates and current students who want to be involved with the WEF. The “First 4” requires a minimal $50 donation to make the WEF more affordable for recent KU graduates, up to four years following their graduation date. Qualified members receive an upgrade to the entry level of an Outland membership.

In addition, the existing “Williams Fund U” student program now offers an upgrade entry level of an Outland membership. For $25, KU students may join the WEF when they enroll online under optional campus fees.

Originally founded as the Outland Club in 1949 by Dick, Skipper and Odd Williams, the WEF is the official fundraising department for Kansas Athletics.
