Senior first basemen Brett Lisher went 4-for-5 and knocked in three runs, while fellow senior Cameron Selik recorded his third win of the year in an 8-4 victory against the Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.

Kansas improves to 6-3 on the season, while Iowa drops to 4-4.

Unlike in the first two games of the series, Kansas jumped on the Hawkeyes early. In the lead in the bottom of the first, Lisher collected a two-run single that brought home Robby Price and Casey Lytle.

The Hawkeyes responded in the top of the third with an RBI single by Mike McQuillan, but the Jayhawks quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning by knocking in three runs highlighted by a Jake Marasco RBI double.

Kansas added two more runs in the fourth on Lisher’s RBI double and an RBI groundout by Chris Manship.

The offense aided Selik’s bid to go 3-0. The senior right-handed pitcher went six innings and allowed two runs on six hits with six strikeouts. It marked Selik’s third-straight quality start this season, and the sixth by the Jayhawks.

Offensively along with Lisher, Manship added a 2-for-3 effort while freshman Alex DeLeon collected his first collegiate hit to drive in a run in the eighth inning.

Kansas will wrap up the four game series with the Hawkeyes on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hoglund Ballpark. The finale of the four-game series will be carried on KLWN radio (1320 AM).
