March 7, 2005

LAFAYETTE, La. –

The Kansas men’s golf team is currently in a tie for fourth place, in a 15-team field, at the Louisiana Classics Invitational at Oakbourne Country Club (par-72, 7,002 yards) in Lafayette, La. The Jayhawks shot an opening round of 292 before intermittent thunderstorms caused the second round to be canceled.

“We are dissappointed that we aren’t going to get to play all three rounds,” head coach Ross Randall said. “I think that if we play well tomorrow, we can catch the teams in front of us.”

Tulsa is currently in the lead with a 284, while SMU is in second place after posting a 287.

Sophomore Tyler Docking is tied for second place after he fired a 69. Senior Andrew Price is currently tied for 13th place after carding a 72. Senior Kevin Ward is in a tie for 42nd after shooting a 75. Junior Pete Krsnich and sophomore Gary Woodland each carded scores of 76 to tie for 49th place.

“Tyler is playing great golf right now,” Randall said. “He is playing smart and steady and it’s really fun to watch.”

Kansas will play 18 holes on Tuesday, March 8 with tee-times set to begin at 7:30 a.m.
