Behind the Name — Arrocha Ballpark
On Nov. 4, 2002, Kansas entrepreneur Cheryl Womack pledged $2 million to help build a new softball stadium at the University of Kansas. Named for Womack’s father, Demostenes Arrocha, Arrocha Ballpark was officially dedicated April 1, 2004.

Great Western Downtown Plaza Classic Leftovers
Kansas softball posted a 4-1 record last week at the Great Western Downtown Plaza Classic in Tulsa, Okla. The Jayhawks scored 33 runs in their first four games of the tournament but were shut out 1-0 by host Tulsa in the title game on Sunday. Seniors Kassie Humphreys and Nicole Washburn and sophomore Elle Pottorf were each named to the all-tournament team for their efforts.
