Clark Provides One-Two Punch In Jayhawks' 3-0 Shut Out of Western Illinois

Junior Allie Clark batted in two runs at the plate and limited to Western Illinois to just one hit from the pitcher’s circle as the Kansas softball team shut out WIU 3-0 during the Coach B Classic.

Kansas evened its record to 9-9 and will wrap up the weekend with a contest versus SIUE at approximately 11 a.m. Sunday (today). Live stats are available at www.KUAthletics.com along with SIUE’s radio broadcast.

Kansas put at least one runner on base in every inning but the second as it collected seven hits in the contest from just four players.

Rosie Hull scored two of the Jayhawks’ three runs and went 2-for-3 at the plate. She scored the Jayhawks’ first run in the bottom of the first inning on a single from Clark. In the next play, junior Brittany Hile hit an RBI single up the middle to plate senior Sara Ramirez, who reached on grounder towards first base.

Ramirez was perfect from the plate collecting a hit in all three of her at bats, including a double in the fifth frame.

Clark batted in her second run of the contest in the third inning with a sacrifice fly ball to shallow right field. On the catch, Hull tagged up at third and escaped the tag at home plate with a wide hook slide.

Clark walked one batter and struck out four as she improved to 3-1 from the pitcher’s circle. It also marked the second time this season the Jayhawks have limited their opponent to just one hit.

Sophomore Kelsey Alsdorf earned her first career start in the field playing left field for the Jayhawks, where she also recorded her first collegiate putout… Brittany Hile has four RBIs during three games of Coach B Classic… After today’s win, junior Allie Clark leads KU with a 3.32 ERA… Clark also has at least one RBI in three of the last four games.
