Miles Named Semifinalist for Award of Excellence

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –

University of Kansas senior point guard Aaron Miles has been named a semifinalist for the 2005 Collegiate Basketball Award of Excellence presented by Creamland Dairies, the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau announced Tuesday. The award honors college seniors for their athletic and academic achievement as well as their community involvement.

Miles, a native of Portland, Ore., leads the Big 12 and ranks fourth in the nation with 7.3 assists per game. He is the KU and Big 12 all-time assists leader and currently ranks 11th on the NCAA career assists chart. In addition, Miles averages 9.4 points and a team-best 1.7 steals per game.

Off the court, Miles is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and involved in both the University of Kansas area and Portland communities.

The award will be presented at the end of the 2004-05 basketball season on April 12, 2005, in Albuquerque.
