Jayhawks to Play Host to Iowa and Oklahoma State This Weekend

LAWRENCE, Kan. — The 74th ranked University of Kansas tennis team will look to improve on its strong start to the season when it hosts Iowa and Oklahoma State this weekend in Lawrence. KU will face the 47th ranked Hawkeyes at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and then will play OSU at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

The Jayhawks are coming off just their third loss of the season, a 4-3 setback to Texas Tech in Kansas’ Big 12 Conference opener. KU (5-3) got wins in singles play from Ksenia Bukina, Lauren Hommell and Edina Horvath, as well a doubles victory from the tandem of Bukina and Elizaveta Avdeeva.

Iowa comes in winners of six straight, boasting an overall 7-2 record. The Hawkeyes are 1-2 this season against ranked opponents.

Oklahoma State enters Sunday’s match on a bit of a slide, having lost its last three contests after starting 4-1. The Cowgirls are 0-1 in Big 12 Conference action.

Currently, the two matches are schedule to be played at Robinson Courts, however, if the weather should get bad, they would be moved to First Serve. Results will be made available at www.kuathletics.com shortly after play is complete.
