OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The 17th-ranked Baylor Lady Bears defeated Kansas, 71-54, Wednesday night in the second round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City, Okla. The Jayhawks finish the season with an 11-20 record. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

In her final game as a Jayhawk, senior Shaquina Mosley led the Crimson and Blue with 16 points including a 6-for-6 performance from the free throw line. Freshman Danielle McCray tallied 14 points to join Mosley as the only KU players in double-figures.

Baylor controlled the game from the early moments, which included a stretch mid-way through the first half where the Lady Bears held Kansas without a field goal for nine-minutes to take a 20-8 lead. A jumper by Jhasmin Player with three minutes remaining in the half gave the Lady Bears its largest lead of the stanza at 17 points.

Baylor shot 53.8 percent in the first half to take a 35-19 lead. The Lady Bears didn’t cool after the break and shot 50-percent in the second stanza. Kansas finished the game shooting 36.4 percent after a rough 7-for-26 first half performance.

Senior Sharita Smith scored six points in her final game for Kansas. KU’s first round victory on Tuesday night was its’ first in the Big 12 Championship since 2003.

Game Notes: Shaquina Mosley scored in double-figures for the 18th time this season while Danielle McCray accomplished the feat on 15 occasions … Mosley tallied KU’s first four-point play of the year when she knocked down a 3-pointer and converted a free throw with 3:51 remaining in the contest … The No. 11-seed in the Big 12 Championship is now 0-4 all-time in the second round … Bonnie Henrickson is 0-4 against Baylor and 1-3 in the Big 12 Championship … Bonnie Henrickson’s career record is now 198-111.
