Jayhawks Sit in 15th Place Entering Final Round at Louisiana Classics

Freshman Alex Gutesha was the top first day finisher for the Kansas men’s golf team as they enter the final round in 15th place at the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.
KU shot rounds of 299 and 301 during day one of the event.
The Denver, Colo. native carded rounds of 71 and 75 to finish the day tied for 24th. Gutesha will be aiming for his third top-20 finish of the year on Tuesday.
Junior Nate Barbee shot rounds of 73 and 76 to enter the final round tied for 39th. Barbee carries a 71.82 scoring average on the season and has five top-five finishes.
Junior Jeff Bell shot a first round 77 before improving on that by four strokes in round two and is tied for 41st. Freshman Chris Gilbert shot a 160 on day one and is in 80th place. Senior Bryan Hackenberg enters round three tied for 81st.
Freshman Dan Waite is competing in the event as an individual and is tied for 41st with 150 strokes. Waite’s top career finish in two starts is a tie for 27th.
Illinois, LSU, and Tulsa are tied atop the team leaderboard with 572 strokes. Scott Langley of Illinois is leading all individuals with an eight-under score of 136.
