Tennis To Host No. 36 Nebraska

Lawrence, Kan. – The University of Kansas tennis team will host No. 36 Nebraska Saturday, March 12, in Lawrence at Robinson Courts. The match is scheduled to begin at noon and will mark the first time that the Jayhawks have played in Lawrence this season.

The `Hawks are 2-8 on the season and 1-1 in the Big 12 after defeating Iowa State, 7-0, and losing to Iowa, 7-0, this past weekend.

Nebraska is 12-2 on the season and 2-2 in Big 12 play. Last season, the Jayhawks defeated the `Huskers, 4-3, in Lincoln, Neb., on April 17, 2004.

In No. 1 singles freshman Elizaveta Avdeeva will have a tough task as she sets out to face Nebraska senior Gette Ostermann, who is ranked No. 25 in the country and boasts a 20-4 record overall.

In No. 1 doubles sophomore Brittany Brown and freshman Lauren Hommell will face the No. 46 doubles team of Ostermann and junior Katie Garcia.

Following the match against Nebraska, the Jayhawks will head to Oklahoma, for matches against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, March 18 and 19 respectively.
