LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Head men’s basketball coach Bill Self was named the Associated Press Big 12 Coach of the Year on Wednesday after receiving 20 of 24 votes from a media panel. This award follows Monday’s announcement that he was given the same honor from the league office.

Freshman Brandon Rush, who was named All-Big 12 First Team by the coaches, was given second team honors from the AP voters. The Kansas City, Mo., native was the leading vote getter for the second team.
