Kansas jumped out to a one run advantage in the bottom of the first inning when freshman Brittany Hile’s sacrifice fly brought junior Stevie Crisosto home.

Neither team would score in the next two innings, but Kansas broke out in the fourth with three runs. Chapple reached first on an error to start the inning. Two batters later, freshman Liz Kocon singled through the right side and advanced to second on the throw, while Chapple moved over to third. In the next pitch, all batters moved over one bag on an illegal pitch allowing Chapple to score. Addy Lucero than grounded out to bring in Kocon before Ally Stanton hit an RBI double into left centerfield to score Allie Clark, who had taken a base on balls.

The Sycamores responded with two RBI singles to score three runs in their next at-bat, but failed to put the tying run on the board, stranding a runner on first.

The Jayhawks will wrap-up the Jayhawk Classic on Monday at 2 p.m. against Western Illinois at Arrocha Ballpark.
