FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –

The Jayhawks fall to 11-7 overall, while the Razorbacks improve to 12-5.

Arkansas starting pitcher Nick Schmidt pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits.

He was nearly matched by Czyz, who had his longest outing of the season. His seven strikeouts also tied a season-high for the KU southpaw.

For the game, KU had four hits. Robby Price, John Allman, Erik Morrison and Buck Afenir all had base hits Saturday. Allman had the only extra base hit by either team, doubling into the right field corner in the ninth off relief pitcher Travis Hill.

Arkansas took a 1-0 lead on a bases loaded walk in the second inning and then tacked on three more with an error, a fielder’s choice and an RBI single by Logan Forsythe in the eighth.

Robby Price extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single in his second at-bat. It matches the longest hitting streak by a KU player this season.

The Jayhawks will look to avoid the sweep on Sunday when the teams meet for the series finale at 1:05 p.m.
