LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The Kansas offense clubbed four home runs, including a second-inning grand slam by junior Jimmy Waters as the Jayhawks routed Tabor College, 15-0 Wednesday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.

The Jayhawks won their fourth-straight to improve to 9-3 on the season, while the Bluejays fell to 9-5.

Kansas scored a season-high seven runs in the second inning, sending 12 men to the plate, to decide the outcome very early.

The Jayhawks banged out six hits in the inning, including RBI singles by Kevin Kuntz and Robby Price. Waters capped the seven-run rally with his third home run of the season, a moon shot to center field that cleared batter’s eye by nearly 10 feet with the bases loaded. It was the junior’s first career grand slam.

One inning later, Jason Brunansky, Brian Heere and freshman Alex DeLeon all connected for their first home runs of the season, giving KU a 12-0 cushion. DeLeon’s blast was the first in his career – a three-run shot to left center.

The offensive barrage backed the pitching staff, which recorded a shutout for the second-straight day. Freshman Thomas Taylor recorded the win, going three innings and scattering four hits with a walk and four strikeouts, while relievers Matt Kohorst, Wally Marciel, Colton Murray, Travis Blankenship and Brett Bochy all followed with scoreless outings of their own.

Brunansky and Kuntz paced the offense with two hits a piece, while Waters and DeLeon combined for seven RBIs.

The Jayhawks will travel to Baton Rouge, La., this weekend to take on No. 1 LSU at Alex Box Stadium in a three-game series. The showdown begins on Friday at 7 p.m. All three games of the Kansas-LSU series can be heard via internet broadcast at www.kuathletics.com.
