Kansas Tennis Match Against Oklahoma State Postponed

March 10, 2013

STILLWATER, Okla. – Sunday’s dual match between the Kansas women’s tennis team and Oklahoma State has been postponed indefinitely due to inclement weather. Athletic department officials at both universities agreed the event will take place some point later in the season, but a new match date has not yet been decided. It was originally scheduled to begin at noon, but the start time moved to 1 p.m. at DeBois Tennis Complex before officials cancelled the event altogether. Forecasts called for mixed rain and snow showers combined with high winds throughout the region on Sunday. Oklahoma State does not have a university-owned indoor tennis facility. The 28th-ranked Cowgirls (7-2, 1-0 Big 12) are coming off of a 5-2 victory over Kansas State in Stillwater on Friday, and have won six of their last seven matches. On Friday, KU fell in its conference opener at No. 40 Oklahoma, 5-2. The Jayhawks will return to Lawrence for a 10-day break before travelling to Hilton Head, S.C. next week for three consecutive days of non-conference play. Kansas (5-3, 0-1 Big 12) faces New Jersey Institute of Technology at 3 p.m. on March 20, followed by matches against Georgia Southern (11:30 a.m., March 21) and Bethune-Cookman (8 a.m., March 22).
