The group surprised the women, who earned the program’s best NCAA meet finish since the men’s team took home runner-up honors at the indoor meet in 1975. Taylor Washington, Denesha Morris, Paris Daniels, Francine Simpson, Alena Krechyk, Andrea Geubelle, Shayla Wilson and Diamond Dixon returned to Lawrence after a long but emensly successful trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships to find dozens of teammates welcoming them home with loud cheers and open arms. Washington was first off the bus, hoisting the runner-up trophey, much to the delight of her teammates. The ladies received hugs of congratulations as they showed off their hard-earned hardware and got a chance to join their teammates in another joyous celebration to help this great achievement sink in just a little more.
