Leidigh to Compete at NCAA Championships

Lawrence, Kan. — University of Kansas swimmer Ashley Leidigh will compete at the NCAA Championships March 16-18 in Athens, Ga. The Merriam, Kan. freshman will compete in the 100 fly on March 17 and the 200 fly on March 18. Prelims for each event will begin at 10 a.m. with the top 16 finishers competing in the finals at 6 p.m.

Leidigh qualified for both events during the Minnesota Invite Nov. 18-20. She set a school record in the 100 fly with a time of 53.08 and earned an NCAA “A” standard time. In the 200 fly, Leidigh qualified for the NCAA Championships with a “B” standard time of 1:59.97. In addition, Leidigh was also named Big 12 Swimmer of the Month during the month of November.

“We are really excited for Ashley’s first NCAA Championships,” head coach Clark Campbell said. “This is a learning environment for her and I just want her to go out there and swim well in her first championships. This will be her first in many yet to come.”
