The 12th-ranked Shockers improve to 14-4 overall, while KU falls to 12-8. The loss snaps the Jayhawks’ eight-game winning streak at Hoglund Ballpark, which dated back to last season.

Eight different Jayhawks collected hits in the game, including sophomores Nick Faunce and Preston Land, who delivered RBI base hits. After Land’s RBI single in the bottom of the third inning, the Jayhawks cut their deficit to 4-2.

However, the wheels fell off after that. The Shockers scored four runs in the fifth and tacked on seven in the eighth.

The Jayhawks will look to rebound in their first Big 12 action of the season when they travel to No. 8 Texas A&M for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
