Jayhawks Look to Rebound at Squire Creek Invitational

March 14, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The Kansas men’s golf team will look to rebound from its 15th-place finish at the Louisiana Classics as they travel to Choudrant, La. to compete in the Squire Creek Invitational March 15-16.

The 16-team field, which includes the Big 12’s Oklahoma Sooners, will compete at Squire Creek Country Club (par-72, 7,105 yards).

“This is our first trip to this event, but I have heard great things about the golf course and that it is one of the top courses in the state of Louisiana,” said head coach Kit Grove.

For the first time since the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate, Grove has amended his starting lineup. Freshman Dan Waite will make his first start as a member of the team and will be joined by senior Bryan Hackenberg, juniors Nate Barbee and Jeff Bell, and freshman Alex Gutesha.

Waite competed as an individual at the Louisiana Classics and tied for 42nd place.

Barbee will be looking to record his seventh top-20 finish of the season, while Hackenberg, Bell, and Gutesha will be looking to claim their third top-20 finishes.

The event will consist of 36 holes on March 15, followed by the final round on March 16.
