Jayhawks Enter Final Round in Seventh Place at Squire Creek Invitational

Nate Barbee’s second round two-under par 70 helped lead the Kansas men’s golf team to seventh place entering the final round at the Squire Creek Invitational at Oakbourne Country Club.

Barbee’s 70 marked his ninth under-par round of the season. He enters the final round tied for fifth place and will attempt to earn his sixth top-10 finish of the season.

Jeff Bell, Dan Waite, and Alex Gutesha are all tied for 46th place after two rounds with a score of 157. Bell and Waite shot identical scores of 78 and 79 in the first two rounds. Gutesha shot a first round 80 before improving that by three strokes in round two. Senior Bryan Hackenberg is in 71st place after carding rounds of 87 and 76.

Freshman Chris Gilbert had a solid day while competing in the event as an individual. Gilbert fired a one-under 71 followed by a 79 and is tied for 19th.

Mississippi enters the final round with a six-stroke advantage over Southeastern Louisiana. Cedric Scotto leads all individuals at three-under par through two rounds.
