Davis and Goodrich are two of 52 candidates named to the all-region list. A selection committee will next trim the list to 40 finalists on Monday, March 19, all of whom will be in the running for the 10-member all-America team.

An All-Big 12 First Team selection, Davis suffered a season-ending knee injury four minutes into KU’s game at Kansas State on Feb. 12. Prior to the contest, she was second in the Big 12 averaging 17.5 points per game and ranked in the top five nationally shooting 60.2 percent from the field. Named to numerous preseason award watch lists including the Naismith, Wade Trophy and Wooden awards, the Houston, Texas native scored 20 or more points eight times and her 34 tallies in KU’s win versus Texas Tech on Jan. 25 are a single-game high among Big 12 players in 2011-12.

One of eight finalists for the Nancy Lieberman award, which honors the top Division I point guard, Goodrich has led KU in scoring seven times in Big 12 play. Her scoring and passing abilities has made the Tahlequah, Okla., native directly responsible for 40.9 percent of the team’s scoring in 2011-12.

The Jayhawks are preparing for their NCAA Tournament first round game, which is set for Sunday, March 18 versus Nebraska at 6:50 p.m. in the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock, Ark. It is Kansas’ first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2000.
