Bowl Teams Highlight Jayhawks 2005 Football Schedule

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Six home games five contests against teams that participated in bowl games last season highlight the 2005 University of Kansas football schedule, announced today by KU athletics officials. The Jayhawks open the 2005 season with three consecutive non-conference home contests — Florida Atlantic (Sept. 3), Appalachian State (Sept. 10) and Louisiana Tech (Sept. 17). Other opponents scheduled to visit Memorial Stadium include Big 12 members Missouri (Oct. 29), Nebraska (Nov. 5) and Iowa State (Nov. 19). In addition, the Jayhawks will face the Oklahoma Sooners on Oct. 15 in Arrowhead Stadium, home of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs.

The first three home games kickoff at 6 p.m. Start times for all remaining games will be released at a later date.

Road contests in 2005 include visits to Texas Tech (Oct. 1) in the Big 12 opener, Kansas State (Oct 8), Colorado (Oct. 22) and Texas (Nov. 12).

The five opponents that participated in bowl contests a season ago include Iowa State (Independence Bowl), Colorado (Houston Bowl), Texas Tech (Holiday Bowl), Texas (Rose Bowl) and Oklahoma (Orange Bowl).

The Jayhawks began spring practice on March 13 and will conclude spring drills with the annual spring scrimmage Saturday, April 16, at 3 p.m. in Memorial Stadium.
