Kansas Football At Southern Mississippi On Friday On ESPN

March 16, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. – A Friday night ESPN television appearance awaits Kansas football when the Jayhawks travel to Southern Mississippi on Friday, Sept. 17. The game will kickoff at 7 p.m. Central.

The Friday night contest will be the second non-Saturday regular season game in three years for Kansas, which played on a Friday at South Florida in 2008. That game was televised on ESPN2.

The Jayhawks will be coming off a home game against Georgia Tech the week before, while Southern Mississippi will have hosted Prairie View A&M the previous Saturday.

Kansas will be making its first ESPN appearance since hosting Texas Tech in October of 2008. Last season the Jayhawks made 12 television appearances, but none on ESPN. In 2009, KU games were televised by ABC (five games), Versus (three), FSN (two), and Fox College Sports Central and CBS College Sports one apiece.

Kansas and Southern Mississippi met for the first time last year when the Jayhawks posted a 35-28 victory at Lawrence on Sept. 26. Kerry Meier caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Todd Reesing early in the fourth quarter for the winning points as KU stopped USM’s winning streak at eight games.
