KU in 11th After Day Two of Betsy Rawls Invite

AUSTIN, Texas –

The KU women’s golf team improved its position by two spots and currently sits in 11th place after two rounds Saturday at the Betsy Rawls Invitational. The Jayhawks shot a 309 in round two to bring them to a total of 632 (323-309). <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Host school <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Texas still leads in team competition with a total score of 607 (31-over-par) after two rounds at The University of Texas Golf Club (6,323 yards, par 72).

Senior Amanda Costner moved from a tie for 32nd place to a tie for 16th place after shooting a 74 in the second round. Her two-round total is 153 shots, or 9-over-par.

Freshmen Emily Powers (82-77–159) and Camilla Svensson (81-78–159) carded a 77 and 78, respectively, in round two to improve to a tie for 37th place.

Junior Annie Giangrosso recorded 80 shots in day two of competition to put her in a tie for 49th place and to a total score of 161. Freshman Meghan Gockel is tied for 51st place after shooting an 80 in round two to put her at a two-round total of 162 (82-80)

Texas’ Kelley Louth is still the front-runner individually carding a 71 in round two to put her at 4-under before the final round.

The final round will begin with a shotgun start Sunday at 9:15 a.m.
